As big horror fans in the ruef offices, one of our favorite Christmas movies is “Silent Night, Deadly Night,” a classic, underappreciated 80s slasher about a killer Santa Claus. The movie’s soundtrack features a song we have come to love called “Warm Side of the Door,” written by Morgan Ames and sung by Lee Montgomery. The song is cheesy but a lot of fun, like the movie itself.
The lyrics are impossible to find online, so we have taken it upon ourselves to post them here. You’re welcome. And Merry Christmas!
“Warm Side of the Door” lyrics by Morgan Ames, from the Silent Night, Deadly Night soundtrack
I’ve been a long time runnin’
I’ve been a long time lost
I can’t even hope to tell you where I’ve been
And what it cost
I’m lookin’ for the warm side of the door
Where the fire’s bright and it’s burnin’ every night
Everybody will be there and they’ll be smiling at me
And I wont need no more on the warm side of the door
My brother’s there, on the warm side of the door
You call to me the way he did to me before
There will be thunder and lighting but we’re safe and sound
And I wont need no more on the warm side of the door
No more runnin’
No more being lost
There’ll be chicken and gravy
and hot apple pie
And I wont need no more on the warm side of the door
There’s always people who love you that will kiss you and hug you
And it’s always Christmas
On the warm side of the door
There’s always people who love you that will kiss you and hug you
And it’s always Christmas
On the warm side of the door
There’s always people who love you that will kiss you and hug you
And it’s always Christmas
On the warm side of the door
