Ghyslain Chocolatier is a premium confectioner founded by Chef Ghyslain, a classically trained French pastry chef whose career spans fine hotels and the Québec Delegations in New York and London before establishing the brand in Union City, Indiana. Their products are known for imaginative flavors and vividly hand-painted chocolates and signature French macarons, whose bright colors and artistry are core to the brand.
ruef built the current Ghyslain website several years ago. The new challenge is developing a broader brand direction by evolving Ghyslain’s visual identity toward a younger, bolder expression without losing the craftsmanship and elegance that makes the brand beloved. The immediate need: new photography for web and print that captures Ghyslain’s color, detail, and delight.
our process
We began with discovery and direction, aligning on audience, tone, and competitive cues, and then built mood boards and shot concepts that leaned into bright, high-contrast color, playful compositions, and crisp macro detail rooted in Ghyslain’s hand-painted artistry.
From there, art direction and production moved through on-site and studio shoots for both product and behind-the-scenes imagery. We selected lighting, surfaces, and backdrops to make color sing while preserving true chocolate texture and sheen.
In the end, we delivered a versatile asset library for web and print, hero images for the website, campaign-ready product clusters, and print-optimized compositions. ruef designers took the new images and updated the website and crafted fresh print materials for the Ghyslain sales team.
